Youth Farmer and Urban Educator Applications Available, Due June 15th

The Hattie Carthan Community Market will recruit, train and empower youth to grow and identify local food, become market sellers and to lead cooking demonstrations and provide information about the merits of local, seasonal eating in our two community markets in the 2016 market season. In 2016, The Hattie Carthan community market will identify and select 10 young people (ages 14- 23 yrs old) to join its Urban agriculture youth corps and work in the market in a variety of positions operating all aspects of our farmers market and conducting seasonal cooking demonstrations in our two community

The transformation of our marketplace continues. Each year we move from strength to strength with your love and kind support. We are making significant improvements at both sites this year in order to better serve our community. Please walk in and sign a volunteer form today if you would like to join our community service team. We are looking for urban agriculture helpers to help with harvesting and market setup Fridays, a basket distribution representative, 2 composters to manage our community drop-off piles and to work in our worm bank. Send us an email if you'd like to join us now on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays as we prepare our fields. It takes a lot of us to care for the plants, animals, people, and youths. We are looking for people to water, weeders, harvesters to work in the fields with farmer Yon on Fridays, artists, market basket outreach helpers, composters and more... This has been a productive month- hard work and hours of commitment by our volunteers and interns working with Farmer Yon - our garden is blooming.
